CW>> :( So far I'm -not- impressed with the new 288 model. It CW>> has a clunky hook relay (the M34F's are silent), and it CW>> makes speaker connection noise even with M0 set. Argh! > The M11F i use to do the mail run is bad enough with it's > clicking when being reset but having connection noise with M0 > set would drive me crazy. It -is- driving me crazy :). It's the last line on the rotary but still gets enough of a workout.. the rotary is Fidonet/BBS and ISP, usually flatout (mostly ISP) during peak hours. The state distributor says "use the Netcomm helpline", which equates to NO local dealer technical support :(. Worst I've seen from Modem suppliers. CW>> Also, does anyone have any technical info on the CW>> VoiceMaster 288's voice command usage? The model includes CW>> -no- technical info on the subject, and voice control is an CW>> emerging standard (i.e. not yet a standard), so that most CW>> software appears to not work with the VoiceMaster 288. > Have you thought about putting a break box on the comm port > and seeing what commands are being sent to and from the > modem. I've since sorted this out using the Rockwell command set documentation. :) I have a working prototype of an OS/2 Answering Machine application that uses the Netcomm VoiceMaster 288. I've arranged to obtain other voice capable modem brands/models prior to releasing the program, once I get that far.
