The diagonal minor axis is 40mm, tube Outside dia is 150mm inside dia is
243mm, and the material is plate glass.

based on my runs with plop, i agree... a 6 point should do quite well...
the 18 pointer i posted would be an interesting excercise in workmanship
and machining capabilities > i found it kind of odd that
the 9 point was worse than the 6, though...
