Chris,
I must agree with the other post, in skipping 4.11 and go straight to 5.0.
Not that 4.11 is a bad choice. But with 5.0 you will get better scalability
of your network.
Some things that you need to know. 3.x - Bindary, meaning all the servers
in your network are nothing more then just stand alone servers and all your
users have to attach to them to access them. In 4.11 or higher they are
now in a tree and is a lot easier to give access to multiple servers. Less
administrative burden in my opinion!
Now things to ask your self. How may servers do you have in your network?
What king of email server is your company running. If your are using
GroupWise you can upgrade up to 5.5 which is a much better email program
then 4.x and older. If your company holds a web site and sells products you
could easily put a 5.1 server on your network with 4.11 with support pack 6
or higher installed or even easier with 5.0. Netware 5.1 servers will help
make your company and Ecommerance ready environment.
If you want to get away from IPX and go totally TCP/IP you should defiantly
go to 5.0 but have the ability to do so with 4.11 or 4.2.
But once again you will have a better printing environment that is way
easier to manage and trouble shoot with 5.0 then 4.x or 3.x environments.
