| subject: | Re: ATM mirror cells |
From: "Bob May" To: "atmlist" Reply-To: "Bob May" The job is trivial with a full (1:6) thickness mirror and only really starts becoming a mess when you start getting to the thin mirrors like a 16:1 piece of glass. By that point, the glass starts to acting more like a rubber sheet and only gets worse. This is why high count support systems get done. Since most of the good viewing is done above the 30 deg. angle, most of the weight of the mirror is on the supports and not on the side support system. This means that proper gluing of some of the points of the suspension to the mirror will nicely make the stress on the glass low.
