Flex the secondary? ALLRIGHT! My co member in our club asked A. Adler
about this, and it is reportedly in the works. I'm interested in toroidal
flexing to make a Yolo.

You're dealing with a push on a small optic? Like a conic constant of what -3?

The single point of force that Kelley tried initially, made the bend too
sharp on fast/large optics. The Adler cushion approach distributed the
force. So we have in your case a perimeter cushion with a sponge covered
disk pushing. Sounds basic.
Maybe the force would be high given the short radius. 20 lbs?

I've got a Hindle sphere for testing these convex aspheres. It could be
interesting to make a flexed secondary and use the test to refine the
apparatus.

I'll bet some simple plano lenses could be used as a starting point, just
to see what is going on.

Hmmm....

Ok, dudes,

Gonna be starting the planetary cass project, DK, or whatever finished version,

gonna try to "Flex" the secondary, should be an interesting experiment.

anyway,,

Looking for suggestions on how to fill the hole on the blank.

8" blank (full thickness 1.375") center hole 2.4" or so..

sooo,, what should i fill it with,? dental plaster?

regular plaster?

put a ceramic tile in the hole on the surface to provide a closer to pyrex hardness?

how about when it come time to figuring? anything different I should do
with the hole plug, or just leave it be?

Looking for suggestions here gang,,

Thanks

Joe
