Morning All,
I've taken a set of 4 ronchigrams of my blank after some polishing
sessions
on my mirror matic. I realise that there is a bit more work to be done
before the beast is spherical but I think that I can say at least it's
heading in the right dirction. After the the first photo was taken, I moved
the overarm out slightly. This has helped the edge improve slowly. Comments
welcome.
I also have a lot of problems cutting facets in my laps. With a machine
I
have found that I need reasonably even sized facets. To help me with this I
have made up a contraption that in use reminds me of a guillotine. I have
the pitch lap attached to the vertical movable plate. This then slowly
drops past a shaped and heated shim which melts the pitch and guides the
melt away from the lap and into a can underneath. Thanks go to John D.Upton
for giving me the idea. I'll be trying this out this weekend once I start
my 5 day break from work. As always comments welcome.
Just click on the link called Newest Feature at the web site in my
signature and that'll take you there.
Cheers
John Murray
