I have one of these and it's been a bit problematic lately.....
Is yours a 33.6K version?
Anyway, my init string is:

AT&F+MS=11,1,300,28800%E2-K1L3W1\N3%C3

Enable MNP-10 if the BBS supports it, as it will improve throughput speeds
if you are getting poor CPS rates (ie lower than 3100 cps)
