-= Pete Replied to Colin Wheat about: M34F =-

G'day Colin

 > So the 288 is the same price as the M34F was, that's not to bad
 > then.

 CW> I'm running 3 M34F's and one Smartmodem 288 at the moment.

CW> :( So far I'm -not- impressed with the new 288 model. It has a
CW> clunky hook relay (the M34F's are silent), and it makes speaker
CW> connection noise even with M0 set. Argh!

The M11F i use to do the mail run is bad enough with it's clicking
when being reset but having connection noise with M0 set would drive
me crazy.

CW> Also, does anyone have any technical info on the VoiceMaster
CW> 288's voice command usage? The model includes -no- technical
CW> info on the subject, and voice control is an emerging standard
CW> (i.e. not yet a standard), so that most software appears to not
CW> work with the VoiceMaster 288.

Have you thought about putting a break box on the comm port and seeing
what commands are being sent to and from the modem.

CW> Cooee is NO option of course, I can't affort to dedicate a whole
CW> machine to running Win3.xx just as an answering machine.. and
CW> Win3.XX cannot run standalone for more than 3 days in any case
 CW> (by design).

:-) where would we be without Windas.
