You could use a fine sharpening stone and water, like we use to sharpen
knives, to get rid of a lot of that rouge. You can also use a scouring
powder (Ajax or Comet here in the USA) and a toothbrush on the sides, but I
would not use it on the very edge of the mirror. Just be very careful to
not scratch the front surface.
