From what I've heard from Netcomm, the current ones are, well, crap. They
send at 19.2k and receive at 2Mbps. In another 6 - 12 months they expect
at least 2Mbps each way, most likely 5Mbps. In another year or two, they will
be 10Mbps full duplex.
They need a cable obviously. Optus vision is what I will be using when I can
afford it. I assume you can use Foxtel.
I'm guessing, but cable modems should be able to connect to ISDN lines, and
provided they have built in V. standards, they'll connect to existing analog
modems. (again, the last paragraph is purly a guess. The rest is what I've
heard from various people).
Oh, Netcomm say the first cable modems are around $300.
