Rick,
Yes, I suspect so. I don't know how or when those designations were
selected. Andrew? And it seems to me there is little "standard"
in optics.
For completeness. The lines used in optical design are the mercury t line
at 1014.0 nm, the Cesium s line at 852.1 nm, and the Helium r line at 706.5
nm.
