Yes, see Texereau, appendix J for the Twyman viscosity tester.  It's simple
to build and will help tell you if your pitch is too hard/soft. Then you
can either modify the pitch, or modify your room temperature...whichever is
more convenient.

How hot does it get in Casablanca?  It is hitting 35 - 38 centigrade
regularly in Taskhent, and sometimes getting into the low 40's.  Haven't
seen clouds for days....and won't for months.
