subject: Internet difficulty

Help would be appreciated for a friend of mine who has not been able to
successfully connect to Melbpc Internet service using win3.1 & slipkit
with a Netcomm Roadster 28.8. and TCP Winsock.

We have been able to successfully login manually and receive the message
that no mail is waiting then the offer to change password. Changing the
password to add another variable is the last thing we wish to do..It seems
we have been connected.

Using the Login.cmd we get to the stage where the message says your Annex
address is 203.152.12.xx your address is 203.12.153.34
We do not always get the message " Connected your IP address is 203.12.153.66

We try to open Netscape or Eudora but after a time get the massage unable
to locate host and Eudora gives an error message 11004.

We have re-installed from the slipkit directory with files unpacked but
without success.

Another strange result is that the Trumpet Winsock page records the messages:
Trumpet Winsock Version 2.0 ctc

etc etc etc

Executing script c:\Internet\trumpet\login.cmd Type to abort

All seems to be correct but when the system echoes the commands sent by
login.cmd and the response from the answering modem letters are dropped.

s) SLIP acces to the Intenet (Registerd users only)

Later we get

Annex adress is 203.1.152.5 Your address is 20.12.153.37.

Connected your IP address is 20.12.153.37

It would seem that a connection has been achieved but netscape Eudora
Finger and Ping are unable to connect to host.
I may have added an occasional typo but believe me the majority are as the
system produced them.

What are the problems?
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has had a similar problem
particularly if they have been able to explain the reason for the
characters being dropped in an apparent random fashion and also the failure
of the Internet utilities to connect.
Winsock.dll has been copied to bothe the Internet and Windows directories.
