Hi
I just spray water across the lap with a hose while cutting.
I use light pressure and a sharp blade. It only takes a few light strokes.
I usually do this at an angle to get a little wider channel than the blade
would produce.
The spray of water is the trick that keeps the stuff from
sticking. If you let the pitch sit in one place it sticks so don't let it
sit until it is away from the lap. If you worry about contamination from
your water, you can rinse it in distilled water after.
I use this method for a mirror class and have rechanneled
a large number of laps without problems. Dwight
