I've always channeled my laps just using a single edge razor blade. Held at
the right angle and drawn at the right speed it will do a fine job. Dip the
blade in a small bowl of cold water every now and then to keep it cool. If
you don't your fingers warm the blade and then pitch sticks to it. That's
bad.
It is easier to learn razor lap trimming than Foucault testing and
figuring.
