I did by pressing Ctrl-J and selecting LATIN-1 to view it properly. (In my GoldED+ setup I have conversions to CP850 from CP437, LATIN-1 and Michiel's partial UTF-8.)

You can check that it is LATIN-1 by viewing the hexdump (Alt-I) of your message. You will see that, for example, the first one (ì, lowercase i with grave accent) is hex EC. That's ISO-8859-1 (or CP1252) AKA Fidonet LATIN-1.
