HMMMMMMMM
A shorter focal length telescope collects more light than a longer focal
length???????
Well in that case I guess a 1" f/4 scope should provide brighter
images than an 8" f/8???

The shorter focal length telescopes collects more light, thus allowing you
to see fainter deep sky objects at high power. But, it's both the focal
length, and the size of the optics that make the shorter focal length most
desirable

Newbie Alert!
Does a short focal length have any advantages beyond making the scope shorter?
