Here is one example of a paragraph that I fed to www.translate.ru:

Process “Š„¢ëŠ‡…”ŠŠ and shadow tests it is difficult to divide time into
components is a uniform creative process where a main role frequently play
not only knowledge, but also intuition. In general, this employment
(occupation) is so interesting in itself, that the author, for example,
frequently does not hurry up with the termination(ending), trying to work
this way and that, finding great pleasure in process “Š„¢ëŠ˜…”ŠŠ, though,
no doubt, a kind of completely flat shadow picture - a show tremendous.

Here is my first draft, doing it manually:

The process of figuring and knife edge testing is difficult to divide into
its constituent parts – it is a singularly creative process, where a
decisive role is played not only by knowledge, but by intuition.  In
general, the process is so interesting in and of itself that the author,
for example, often does not rush to finish, testing this or that technique,
and finding great pleasure in the figuring process.  However, there is no
doubt that the view of a completely flat shadow pattern is an amazing
spectacle.

Which do you prefer?

Also...I'm doing this to gain knowledge of two things:

A.  ATM'ing
B.  Russian

If I merely fed the text into a computerized translator I would learn less
of both.  (Believe me, I'm re-learning and expanding my learning of ATM'ing
by chewing over the manual translation of this stuff.  I'll be better
prepared to push glass again when I finish my overseas tour.)

Computer translators help...but they need to improve...especially with more
difficult text.  (Can you imagine feeding to translation software some
literary works such as Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon?  Or the Russian
work Master and Margerita?  ;-)
