Hello Adam! AF> Now that 33.6k modems seem to be available from most manufacturers. I AF> was wondering if 33.6k had yet been approved buy the ITU-U. Eg. are AF> all these new modems V.34+ or V.34bis? If they are all V.34+ I guess AF> they will be a new round of Firmware updates? If it's a Netcomm, an expensive version then there will probably be firmware upgrades available for it. The Dynalinks are V34+, like the earlier Courier. I believe the ITU group have approved the V34bis standard and it will most likely become what 28.8K and 14.4K had. But if you've already got a modem, maybe it's not worth the extra cash for a 33.6K. Most BBS's and Internet servers have only 28.8K, some even V.fast. AF> I guess 33.6k will be the last speed for PSTN lines? Maybe not, because they said that the lines wouldn't handle more than 14.4K, then it was 28.8K, and now it's 33.6K. But cable modems seem to be the next major speed enhancement. Seeya ...
