Well, that makes my 2.5 inch about half as big as the 4.5". I finally
put it together yesterday and last night I managed to point it upwards
between the clouds.

I managed to split alpha centauri - just, jewel box was a pretty sight as
were the clusters near scorpio. Omega centauri was a bright smudge against
a not so dark background (I live in a city where you can count the stars
with
the fingers on one hand).

Mars was a very bright little disk (magnification was about 30 - all I
could manage with a 20 mm Ramsden EP; er - yes, I'll have to rebuild my
optics arsenal again)!

But the moon was very spectacular probably because it just filled the field
of view - and there was just the tiniest hint of colour - due to the
eyepiece.

Anyhow, I'm back on the air again - so to speak
