 PC> G'day Andrew

AS> The modem is a Creative Labs Modem Blaster 33.6 External on Com1.
AS> It is setup as a "Creative Labs 28.8-33.6 PnP Modem" under Win 95.
AS> It works flawlessly to connect to my ISP using DUN. Throughput is
AS> 3000 to 3500 cps on a good night, never drops carrier, solid 33.6
AS> connect etc. But I am having trouble connecting to local BBSs.

AS> Connects well and downloads well but uploading files can be very
AS> difficult. Using Hyperterminal the upload can slow to nothing and
AS> sometimes freeze, the other side reports CRC errors. Hyperterminal
AS> reports "Bad Data Packet" and "Retries" can be
20 for a 1meg file.
AS> At times the Error Correction LED flashes like crazy!!!

PC> This is a TX flow control problem though the settings above state you
PC> have RTS/CTS Flow Control enabled, Is hardware flow control enabled in
PC> Hyperterminal?, Are you using the TAPI interface or going direct to
 PC> COM1?

           Hello Pete,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, hardware flow control is enabled in
Hyperterminal and I am using the TAPI interface. I have partly
worked around the problem by connecting only at 19200 bps to
BBSs. This results in better connects / uploads. But still I
use 115,00 bps to my ISP with blinding downloads and a rock
solid 33.6 connection. Figure that out!!!!!

The tech guy from Creative Labs blamed the phone lines and also
suggested that I disable error correction ( why?? ) which I have
   not tried yet.

                      Any other thoughts?

                                Andrew Strong,

... I used up all my sick days, so I'm calling in dead.
