I have no problems running Tex (MS-DOS app, whose icon I just double-click
on), Newt, and Sixtests on WinXP.
And as much as I think that Bill Gates is an EvilDoer, I would recommend
anyone still running Win95 or 98 to move to XP -- it's a lot more stable.

One thing that I've heard about XP is that you can't boot to DOS anymore.
This tends to make things difficult when you have serious problems with
things. The DOS session is still available but you have to do some
twiddling with the OS to get it to talk to anything like the printer or
other such things when in that DOS session. In additon, you will have to
register the OS with microcrud in order to keep it working.
Lastly, from what I've seen of the OS when working with others computers,
there is way too much space taken up on the screen for the
"cuteness" factor for my preference.
Personally, I'd stay away from XP.
