| subject: | Re: ATM Foucalt testing with illuminated Couder mask - a good idea? |
From: "Bob May" To: "atmlist" Reply-To: "Bob May" When I go and do final testing on a mirror, I always insure that the camera is picking up the mask to a medium shade of gray on the monitor. Thus, I am able to compare the brightness of the zone against the mask in addition to the other zone. As a backup to the comparison to the gray, I also do blinking at a slow rate and see which side seems to trail the other for brightness. With this technique, you have to have only one zone that the eye sees or you will end up being mixed up looking at all of the blinking going on with the other zones moving left or right. The video system makes this masking easy as you just put your hand up to the monitor and blank off the undesired zones. In addition, having two masks, one for the odd zones and the other for the even zones, makes masking the other zones off a lot easier.
