Peter, at 14:06 on Mar 31 1997, you wrote to Bill Grimsley... BG> No skin off my nose anyway, as I dumped USR some time ago. BG> Great modems, but a crying bloody shame about their BG> diabolical lack of local backup. PC> Your right there, I'd hate to think what i'd do if i ever PC> had to send the Courier back for repair, I'd be better off PC> sending it back to the USofA If it's an Austel model, it will need to go to Melbourne, as I don't think that USR supply SROs to modems intended for use in countries other than the US. At least with US/Canada models which have to go back to Illinois, USR do pay the FedEx air freight charges back to Australia (around US$50, incidentally). BG> The even funnier thing is that Dynalink sell precisely the BG> SAME internal modem as USR, but for just over HALF the price BG> that USR is charging. Dunno about you Peter, but I'm BG> laughing all the way to my bank... :) PC> That is strange how the price varies so much. It's actually a wonderful insight into precisely how much USR are gouging the public with their outrageosuly priced products, if you ask me. PC> Now with the Sportster Pausing problem fixed the Dynalink is even better PC> value. Agreed (that problem's been fixed for ages now, BTW).
