Hello all,

It is late and I have a progress report... I have been
working on a truss tube dob. support for my 9.5" mirror which is
awaiting my fine touches to fix the surface from a turned sown edge,
a surface that needs a parob.. and looking for temperatures that are less
then my body...
I have not as yet bought an AC unit for my work area. I have
determined that the high temps
are the cause of my lap flattening out, and the channels closing on every session.
I have stopped figuring... I have spent my time concentrating on
the support systems for this
piece of glass so I can judge what light it reflects and how well it does that....
I have completed a truss dob by hand and power tool but with the flair of
the inovator. I am still working
on the two most complex areas of the diagonal and the focuser. The truss
poles are set by math with a
little play. My mirror is now supported by foam (2") at the bottom of the
mirror box. I am working on
a mirror support for adjustment and muticell support.. The system I now
have is for star testing, and I
finally completed my rotatable base for all around spotting. The focuser is
primative and will be used
for star, or "moon" testing.
I did not have acess to teflon pads but I bought some "magic
sliders" which were not so cheap.
I don't know but I think these have teflon involved with there
composition. These things slide like "buttrer"
I wish I had a slab of teflon, But these small pads are self adhesive
and no screws are nedded.
Tomorrow I will set up my diagonal and start working on my
primary support... Foam has no
way to be adjusted...
I will keep in touch with all on my
progress...... Keep on polishing....
                                                              Russ Jocoy
