subject: ATM spatter marks on a fresh new coating...part 2.

hi everyone,
i have done a foucault test to see if the chrome base of this coating
affected the figure. foucault readings give me a 1/16 wavelength , same as
before coating. so figure didn't change. now for the spots i have counted
30
! none are bigger than 1mm across.
when i opened the package the first time i tought it was some kind of dust
and tried to wipe it out with facial tissue(wiping very lightly over the
surface) but this create fine scratches. probably caused by particles of
aluminum catched by the facial tissue (i have done this before on my other
mirror and never did a single scratch. because of this i didn't tried to
clean the mirror more to see if there was pits under these spots. instead ,
i was able to find a spot that has lost its aluminum bubble and light it up
from behind the mirror. but what i saw was not a point of light but
hundreds. lighting up the mirror from behind was like looking in the night
sky in a very dark site.what is causing this? it is surely not a lack of
polishing , this mirror recieved around 30 hours of polishing....if
somebody can give me an answer on this, i would be very pleased ! thanks
steve desfosses
