subject: ATM WANTED: Mirror Maker Services

Hello,

Our club needs an experienced optical craftsman to finish our mirror. It
has been in the hands of a professional for several years who has now found
that he does not have the time to finish. The telescope is now complete
except for the mirrors.

Here are some of the details of the mirrors. This is to be a classical
Cass. system. If you are interested in this project, please let me know. I
will send you complete specifications for the mirrors. We will be happy to
work with you.

Main Mirror Diameter - 40" - 1016 mm Focal Length - 147" -
3733.8 mm (f/3.675) Polished out, figuring started.

Secondary Diameter - 10" (9.85 used) Distance from primary to
secondary - 111.5" - 2832.1 mm

The center hole in the primary is not yet all the way through. The only
problem with this system is that the primary mirror blank is full
thickness. If I remember correctly, it is about 5 inches thick so it is
somewhat heavy. I will get the exact thickness and all other details on the
mirrors to anyone interested in the project.

While we are not a rich club, we have had a fund drive for this telescope.
We would like to negotiate rates and delivery time for this project with
people who are willing and able to do such a system.

We are located in eastern Pennsylvania so there would be a slight
preference for someone who is in the east or midwest.

Thank you for your time.

TOM (OWL1)
