-= Pete Replied to John Hepworth about: Telstra/Motorola 56k announcement =-
G'day John
PM> Telstra's announced $95 per month (and 25c mb after the 1st
PM> 400mb) is way to high for the average home user IMHO, but if
JH> I've had cable TV for a few weeks and am about to cancel - $50 a
JH> month is far too much for lots of channels not worth watching.
This seems to be a fairly common view.
JH> If they bundled in cable modem access for the same price I might
JH> be interested in staying connected, but at $95 per month plus
JH> volume charges (and at 50k char/sec the "free" volume would be
JH> quickly used up) cable modem service is also far too expensive.
JH> After all it would be $50 for cable TV PLUS $95 for cable modem
JH> connection.
If the cable co's ever want to get people connected and keep them
connected then they'll need more the just lots of TV channels, JMO but
there needs to be a total re-think on services offered and total cost
if they ever hope to get people signed up and keep them.
JH> Maybe I'll have to wait for ADSL - but I won't hold my breath
JH> :-)
So whats ADSL John?, Async Digital Satalite Link, Just guessing here.
Pete.
