subject: Modem Troubles

Hello All,

  * I am having a few troubles with my modem can anyone help? *

The modem is a Creative Labs Modem Blaster 33.6 External on Com1.
It is setup as a "Creative Labs 28.8-33.6 PnP Modem" under Win 95.

       Max Transmission Speed 115200
       Data 8
       Parity None
       Stop Bits 1
       Flow Control Hardware RTS/CTS
       Error Control Enabled
       Compress Data Enabled

It works flawlessly to connect to my ISP using DUN. Throughput is
3000 to 3500 cps on a good night, never drops carrier, solid 33.6
connect etc. But I am having trouble connecting to local BBSs.

Connects well and downloads well but uploading files can be very
difficult. Using Hyperterminal the upload can slow to nothing and
sometimes freeze, the other side reports CRC errors. Hyperterminal
reports "Bad Data Packet" and "Retries" can be 20 for
a 1meg file.
At times the Error Correction LED flashes like crazy!!!

Also the modem log reports "Serial Line Over-runs".

What can I do? I have been trying changing the "Fifo Buffers"
  section but no great difference.

                        Thanks for your trouble,

                                       Andrew Strong
