JP>> (*) Why IS it called a domestic SDL? RB>> Domestic flights on planes are flights within the country they took off RB>> from.... JP> I know the meaning of the word "domestic"; what I was referring to was JP> the JP> meaning WRT Couriers ... RB>> A Domestic Modem or SDL is presumably one that is intended for the RB>> country in which it was made, therefore it is domestic to that country. JP> Surely the same can be said for the Austel SDL ... NO, The Australian Courier is MADE in USA and the Austel SDL is MADE in USA, also...Neither are DOMESTIC to this country. SOME early Austel Couriers WERE Assembled here (from old US/Canada Domestic Couriers with the addition of an Austel Approved (but still made in USA) Daughter board. I think you will find that the Austel SDL was written in USA as well.... If it was done locally.....dont you think we would have had MORE of them.
