looking some time soon...

Alas ... here it sucks in a long line of high-performers, only to 
spit them out again.  The latest is the high-profile principal of 
the country's largest secondary school, Rangitoto College.

He's accepted a nomination for a safe seat next year,  and 
therefore must resign his principalship.  His party ain't 
guaranteed to win the next time,  and he cannot count on taking 
charge of all education in the country.

The chances are that he'll end up hogtied in opposition - and have 
nowhere useful to go after his 3 years;  he's a good stern 
headmaster with the charisma of a Scottish dominie - nobody would 
vote for him for himself...

Politics is nature's way of introducing aspiring do-gooders to the 
Dark Side...
