G'day All!

Is: Warp 3.0, i486dx33, 8mb
Was: OS/2 2.1, i486sx33, 4 & 5mb

I'm just curious as to why, when I upgrade my machine and the OS, the
performance is measurably worse and less stable in the extreme. Waiting
twenty minutes for a machine to finish booting gives one plenty of time to
reflect on the deficiencies in the so called improvements (I spent a couple
o' those 20 minutes reading the first chapter o' the manual. hmph)

And as for the fixpaks, well, it took a bit o' work to avoid having to go
through the entire process of reinstalling after the mess created by the
strangely named Corrective Services Facility. Is it normal to expect what
was a stable and efficient system to degrade further with each modification
that I make?

The usual "un-install the bits you don't need" doesn't seem to
apply either. I've just recently re-installed the TCP stuff and things
actually got a little faster. Go figure?

I know my machine isn't the bleeding edge of modern technology, but
neither's Warp3, and it says it only wants 386/4mb! Is that some sort of a
wee joke on the part o' those writing the manual? Is it just me, or did I
just miss this happening to the rest o' ye? After the time n' effort (and
money) spent rooting out native software, is Microsoft going to be the only
option? Sheesh.

"I just don't want to die - is that unreasonable?"

PS. Sorry about all the grumbling, it's my SOH's weekend off. Thanks for ye time...
