The Series 3 M7F had BTLZ data compression implemented over MNP 4 error
correction, and did not support LAPM error correction.

Besides other Netcomms, only Microcom and Motorola 326X series (and
Telebit?) modems are known to support BTLZ data compression over MNP 4.
Other modems supporting BTLZ only over LAPM error correction had problems
with Netcomm Series 3 M7F modems, given that Netcomm had claimed support
for (then) CCITT V.42bis (BTLZ over LAPM), requiring Series 3 M7F modems in
Fidonet not to show the "V42b" flag.
