subject: New Modem for 56k?

Hi Pete

[Thus spake Peter Collis unto Sunny Leung:]

SL> I wonder if the Banksia WaveSp is any good. $299 (IIRC) and it

SL> has 33.6k and voice support, flash ROM and DVSD as well. The box

SL> claims that the modem is upgradeable to K56Flex.

PC> I've never been all that impressed with Banksia modems though maybe

PC> i'm just bias because they use stupid names (MyModem etc) BTW is DVSD

Not sure about how good Banksia modems are but if they are standard Rockwell

fare (and I assume they are), they should do well enough.

PC> a std, Will a Banksia DVSD modem work with say a Netcomm 288-D using

 PC> DVSD?

Yep, but I'm not sure whether the Banksia WaveSP is SVD or DSVD. I don't

know the difference between the two standards either.
