| subject: | Re: ATM re: microfacetting pitch lap during final mirror steps |
From: "Bill Kelley" To: "Bob Mazzullo" , Reply-To: "Bill Kelley" Hi- Hey- I don't think he meant to leave the wire mesh on the lap. Unless scraps of mesh were left behind, which doesn't seem likely. Anyway stuff that gets buried in a lap that is denser than pitch doesn't seem to work its way to the surface. Don't give up too soon on the idea. I've used "hardware cloth" which is a metal mesh. No scratches. Of course I took it off after pressing the pattern :>) Bill > > Hello all.... > > I have just been informed by Frank Ward that using wire lath to generate a > facet pattern on a pitch lap would more than likely generate a pattern of > scratches on the glass itself. > > It would seem obvious that sharp metal and smooth glass do not mix....what a > dummy I am.
