| subject: | Australian USR Courier x2 upgrades |
Hello Steven! Tuesday March 04 1997 20:38, Steven Anderson wrote to Hamish Moffatt: HM>> Hang on, wasn't this meant to be just a flash upgrade for you mob? Of course, although (properly worded) that would be illegal. But still a big scam on USR's part. Certainly, it costs them money to develop the new protocol, although since TI are selling x2 parts and TI does the USR DSP, perhaps TI wrote the code? Clearly all work has to be paid by new purchasers of the modem, since usually there is no more revenue from an existing owner. Maybe USR aren't expecting this to sell very well. I heard the other day that K56Flex is far superior (and faster) anyway.
