Jerry,

That was a long and very valuable post. You said it well. From that post I
take the following:

But for me, under the Foucault test I can see a brightening if I continue
to smooth the surface after the point of ridding the surface of roughness I
can actually see directly under Foucault test.

The "luster" I love to see it the bright light on the test stand
when I am finding ROC. The difraction ring is almost a halo and I get a
yellow light beaming back at me. I only get it when I have used rouge and a
newly pressed, full surface lap. I almost hate to cut into it with the
K.E., but if I guess right I can enter at the .707 zone and get the second
nicest view....a properly shaded donut without bumps or humps or dog
bisquit. Ahhhhhh, we have to get our pleasures where we can.

And it is nice to melt a little pitch so the smell can be heavy in the air
as you see the luster! Ahhhhhhh! Heaven. You've arrived.

Jerry
