| subject: | New Modem for 56k? |
Hi Pete
[Thus spake Peter Collis unto Sunny Leung:]
SL> You bet. The very reason for having a flash ROM is to avoid
SL> having to send the modem anywhere for firmware upgrades! If USR
SL> Australia insists on a return to base (in Melbourne) policy for
SL> the 56k upgrades, I might as well go and buy a Rockwell 56k
SL> modem.
PC> Been tossing up whether to replace my old M11F on the mail computer
PC> with a new shiny V34 job, Ones thing for sure it won't be an Austel
PC> Courier.
I wonder if the Banksia WaveSp is any good. $299 (IIRC) and it has 33.6k
and voice support, flash ROM and DVSD as well. The box claims that the
modem is upgradeable to K56Flex.
Regards
Sunny
