Yes, it's faster. *S* You don't want a sphere, you want a parabola.

I know it seems sarcastic, but it I wanted to view the sunset from the
coast I'd drive like hell to the coast, then slow down and enjoy the sunset.

Same thing here. Years ago Mel said in a post that he could parabolize a
mirror from a sphere in fifteen minutes. I thought he was drinking too much
of that Oregon rainwater. Then I gained the experience to parabolize a
mirror from a sphere in fifteen minutes and acknowledged that it was his
experience talking, not wishful thinking.

However, getting >the< parabola takes longer. If you are like me you
will spend a lot of time over a spinning disk getting >the< parabola.
I would suggest you use >that< time with rouge. Then as a standard in
the future you can plan to switch to rouge when you start parabolizing.
