Very.

But there's something to be said for grouping them under a separate child, like

At least with DOM (Document Object Model; dunno about SAX or others) it
means all like elements are grouped together, so that single element
(object) can be found and passed off to another function in one pass
without first compiling them into a temporary object.  I may also be
helpful to collect a node's own data together under a single element,
separate from it's downlinks.

OTOH, it makes the tree deeper, which could get tedious.
