The pier's first light came from the Moon. To get it, I duct taped
together the equatorial head/pier coupler and plopped all the goodies on
the pier top. A little floppy, but it worked.
Remember how I wrote the pier was too short and it needed a riser. Well
either the riser is too tall or the telescope is too small. The later I'm
sure. And either way, I'm still climbing on a plastic lawn chair to see
Mars rise.
To fix the height and the riser cap cracking problem, I'm replacing the
cinder block with a stack of five concrete stepping stones. This will
shorten the pier about 8 inches. Sky wise, a disappointment. Also, I've
now got 21 holes to drill. Aligned of course. Ugg
Yea, the bricks still aren't back in place.
Last night I dreamt of finding a 150 mm diameter f/18 refractor on a high
deep shelf at an over packed junk store. I had to climb up on the shelf to
get it. 15 dollars the proprietor wanted. I sure wish I knew were this
store was.

the impossible. What it really means: You're an ATM.
