After upgrading did you check the string settings in Config - Option J?
There must be a menu called START. If that menu is missing, Renegade will
crash. Also make sure the new-user subscription settings are set for that
START menu along with your own user account.
Delete the file USERS.IDX in the Data directory as well after upgrading.
