Can't say for DOS, but for the rest Avast is one of the best. It has
blocked everything from my system except one that I opened a very
suspicious email any how - knowing I  had just updated the virus
signatures. Turned out NONE of the various checkers checked for that
one. The next day or two all of them had the virus check for it.
Two versions - A free and a pay for. I use the free.
