From: "Jerry B. Hillman" To: Reply-To: "Jerry B. Hillman" Helloe everyone, I want to thank all of you for your immediate and helpful responses. The general consensus of opinion that my mirror was not properly supported was exactly right. I have posted another Ronchigram of my mirror that shows how much proper support can help. The 'S' is gone. I see other problems in the mirror, primarily roughness from using a star lap but I can work on that now that I know that it wasn't the surface of the mirror causing that weird pattern. I also posted pictures of my current testing equipment. The tester is elavated about 4 1/2 feet off the floor. The mirror is at floor level. This would correspond to the lowest level towards horizontal that I am likely to use the scope. Now, onward towards that parabola.
