hmmm, okay. Hardly use the DOS window anymore, so I guess I can live
without it. How much difference d'ye expect it to make anyway?

FWIW, it seems that my problems were caused by PMSHELL.EXE, or something
associated with that environment. Using PC/2 as my shell has improved
things a lot...
