Hi, I was just wondering if anybody could help me.
A friend of mine recently purchased a NetComm Smartmodem V8 Model No.SM7720
from an auction without any manuals or software and he is trying to figure
out what features it has.
So far I have figured out it is a V32 bis modem and works well at 14400,
but I was wondering what other features it has.  Bitfax detected it as a
default sendfax device but when you try to send a fax it dials and starts
the usual fax beeps but refuses to negotiate with the other end when the
fax answers it just seems to send a continuous tone and the software
eventually times out.
I have extracted the following information from the modem:
ATI0: 144
ATI1: 221 18C5
ATI3: Series 5 V 32 bis Modem Y7VDFS(A) v2.34A (c) NetComm (AUST) 1993
ATI4: Tue Feb 15 17:17:19 1994
ATI8 and ATI9 are the same as ATI3
Any information would be appreciated
ie. is it a fax modem, is it upgradable (how much$), is it possible to
extract a list of AT commands and their meanings from the modem or could I
get a manual from somewhere (or a copy)
