G'day Trevor,

Replying to a message of Trevor Wallace to All on 31/03/97:

TW> I'm just curious as to how ye OS/2 users read/download internet
TW> newsgroups. I've recently begun playing with Souper 1.5, and prefer
TW> the idea to using an on-line reader, but can't quite work out how to
TW> get messages into my JAM base in a decent manner. Unfortunately,
TW> golded tends to barf at the task.

I get my newsgroups/email via a uucp feed (with fxuucico) and then feed it
to Watergate which tosses the email to netmail and newsgroups into echomail
in Fidonet format. I use Squish message bases but Watergate also supports
*.msg and Jam as of v0.92. It's a shareware DOS program that runs in OS/2
beautifully. I still use Squish to toss my incoming Fidonet pkts

I use Watergate to toss all outgoing mail ie Fidonet and Internet. I have
two Fidonet points setup and one uucp feed. It hasn't screwed up yet.

I use FleetStreet to read and write all my news/mail.

TW> Does anyone know of a Soup Fido *.PKT converter programme, or
TW> similar, around anywhere? A free flame to the first person who
 TW> mentions squish, though... :)

:-) Sorry can't help here, just thought I'd give you an alternative method.

Regards...Jeff (jeff{at}matra.com.au)
