G'day Colin

CW> It -is- driving me crazy :). It's the last line on the

 > Netcomms.

CW> Turns out it's a fault with early releases of the new 288 model
CW> when running the new (as supplied) firmware. It may need to go
CW> back for adjustment. Basically it's faulty as supplied, but the
CW> distributor offers NO supoort without Netcomm's direct
CW> interaction (via their support services).

At least it's a fault and not just designed that way.

CW> Means I have to waste time in the 'support' merry-go-round
 CW> treated as a customer/consumer.

That's what i hate about Netcomms service, They expect you to sit
beside the phone waiting for their tech to call back :-(

CW> Most distributers would simply exchange the unit and handle the
 CW> warranty/return situation internally. 8-).

Who do you deal with over there, here on the east coast it was Mersal
now Tech-Pacific unless you wanted to deal direct with Netcomm.

 > Well there's always USR's Aust support

CW> Nono ;). In the computer industry it's difficult on average to
CW> supply Australian made products, and we have some excellent
CW> Australian made and owned Modem brands.

Quite true, I was actually having a dig at the non-existent support
for USR in Aust.

CW> As a retailer I sell and promote Australian products where ever
CW> possible.. there's NO excuse for not supporting Australian
CW> manufacturers when it comes to Modems IMHO.

The likes of Netcomm, Maestro and Banksia all seem to have quite good
products now days.

     Pete.
