Actually, so long as Netcomm haven't fiddled with the code the only thing that
needs changing are the 2 s registers.  Sure that there are no atzs lurking
around in batch files etc...

I have much the same setup here,  the fossil is a cracked/hached one but I
don't think that would have much to do with it.  Might pay to go back to 1.53
just in case.  You mught try initalising the modem before FD starts and just
put AT in the init string of FD.

What version of firmware is fitted to the modem, ati4 from memory should tell
you.
