Which flavor of Linux?  I am using Puppy.....it fits the bill for me...and
I've gotten to the point where I carry around a linux bootable usb drive
with wine and a lot of Windows apps....kinda like an office on the drive.

Based on the roller derby gals around here....I'll bet that if you ask them
to help you with the food and exercise, they'll whip you into shape real
fast...or leave you in the corner, covered with bruises.

Gee...it only took me ending up with zero dollars of any kind, facing
eviction and loosing evertyhing to clean up my act...sometimes you just
need an opportunity (g).
